Arranging Masses, Baptisms etc.

If you would like one of the regular Masses to be celebrated for a special intention – in thanksgiving or in memory of a loved one for example, then contact the Parish Secretary who will book the Mass in the diary and receive your offering. There is now normally only one Mass each day during the week so it is recommended that you contact us a little while in advance if you want a Mass to be celebrated on a particular date.

It can happen that a booked Mass intention has to be changed at short notice if, for example, a funeral takes place. We will let you know if this happens and try to arrange another suitable date with you.

If you want to send a card to someone to tell them that the Mass is being celebrated, there is a selection of cards available at the back of the church or from the office.

If you or someone you know is either ill at home, housebound or in hospital and would like to receive the sacraments, please contact the Parish Office or the hospital Chaplain.

Please remember that the Chaplains do not have access to a list of patients or to any information about patients’ religions. If you are admitted to hospital and you would appreciate seeing a Chaplain, or you have particular religious needs such as receiving a sacrament, please ask the staff or one of your visitors, to let the Chaplain know. Please also let your parish priest know.

If you would like the name of a sick person to be mentioned in the Newsletter, contact the Parish Office. You can also add a prayer intention on this website here.

If you want to have a child baptised, speak to the Parish Priest who will explain what has to take place in terms of preparation for the sacrament, choosing Godparents, booking a date, choosing readings and prayers etc.

If you are an adult who has not been baptised and are thinking about becoming a Catholic, then there is a programme called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults or RCIA which is run in the parish usually starting in September each year. In the first instance, please come along and join us for Mass and meet us and, if you like what you see, speak to the Parish Priest to discuss your interest further.

If you want to be married here or would like the Parish Priest to celebrate your marriage elsewhere then speak to him to discuss what has to take place in terms of preparation for the sacrament, choosing readings and prayers, booking an organist, payments etc.

If you are being married in another parish or even another country, you will have to provide the priest who is to marry you with certain documents so, again, speak to the priest here for further information.

When a person we know or love dies, it can be an enormous shock even if it has been expected. There are many things that need to be done and you can access a useful government site containing further information by clicking here.

Funeral arrangements can only be made once the death has been registered. Once this has been done speak to the Parish Priest to discuss:

  • The date and time
  • The type of service – whether a Requiem Mass in church, a service at the cemetery or crematorium
  • Whether the body is to be received into church the evening before the Requiem
  • Readings, prayers, music, orders of service, etc.
