We wish all our parishioners and visitors joy, peace, blessings and happiness as, with the Holy Family and with all Christian Churches through this season, we celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We pray that anyone going away travels safely and send our thanks and gratitude to those who will be going out bringing help to the needy as well as to those who will help make our celebrations in church joyful. We have been asked to send a Special Big Thank You to all the children with Mary and Richard who help take up the Offertory Gifts at 11:15 Masses during the year; to the young readers who read so clearly; also the altar servers and the lovely choir. Mary wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Please keep in your prayers
Please keep in your prayers Steve Mann who was moved to St Joseph’s Hospice the week before Christmas and also Suzanne (Sue) Hannington who died at home on 21st December, aged 83 years. Sue’s Funeral will be on Wednesday 10th January at 11am followed by burial at Islington Cemetery at 1pm, where Sue will be buried with her late husband Christopher.
Please also remember Paul, Sue’s son, who had cared for her and Jennifer, Steve’s wife, and his children.
Prepare the Way for the Lord
As we complete preparations to celebrate our Saviour Jesus’ birth, make time to prepare in your heart. The daily Advent ‘O’Antiphons summarize the whole scope of the Old Testament with both words and events that are seen as preparation for the ultimate revelation of God in Jesus. The Scripture Notes, updated as the season progresses, help us get more from the Christmas readings at Mass and our Family Room activities help bring families back to the real meaning of Christmas. The last Eucharistic Adoration of Advent will be 9:30-11am on Friday 22nd.
Sacramentally, perhaps the best way to draw Advent to a close is in the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession and times are given below.
At a very practical level, any extra hands to help clean the church for Christmas after 9am Mass on Monday 18th will be most welcome!
