CAFOD Harvest Fast Day – Friday 4th October

No one should be beyond reach of the love and support they need to thrive. This Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to fast, pray and give, so we can extend the hand of friendship to the world’s poorest people. Fabiano’s village in rural Uganda has been devastated by drought. Every day, children would trek miles for water, risking their education – and safety. Donations from parishioners across England and Wales helped install a solar-powered water pump in the village. Now Fabiano and his friends can collect water quickly and safely. On Family Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to eat a simple meal for lunch or dinner and give the money we save to help children like Fabiano. Collect a Fast Day envelope at the back of church and return it next weekend. Please give generously and Gift Aid your donation if you can. Read Fabiano’s story online at To donate online:

Rest in Peace

The Funeral Mass of the late Timothy Nolan RIP will be held here at St Peter’s on Tuesday, 1st October at 10am followed by cremation at Enfield Crematorium, 12noon. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Please God, within the next few weeks the new Porch window will be installed completing that part of the work. There is still work to be done around the church. We thank sincerely all who have donated or pledged donations to the cost of the work but we need to continue our fundraising efforts. Thank you to those who came to our fundraising meeting on Monday. Watch this space for more news.

Pastoral Letter

The Cardinal has written a pastoral letter for this weekend, 28/29 September 2019. Copies are available at the back of the church on the newsletter stand and  here on the website. Blessed John Henry Newman has a prominence within the letter as we prepare to celebrate his canonisation on 13 October. To celebrate, a service of Ecumenical Vespers at Westminster Cathedral will be held on Saturday 19th. A Novena in preparation for the canonisation is available at; the rest of the website gives good information on Newman’s life and sainthood, and about the events in Rome on the weekend of 12/13 October.
