Confirmation

Congratulations to our young people who received the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation which was conferred by Bishop John Sherrington at the 6:30pm Mass this Saturday. We thank the candidates for their commitment to the programme and their families for their support. We also thank everyone who has been involved in preparing the young people, especially our catechists and Fr Sean, as well as Bishop John and those who worked to ensure that the Confirmation Mass was a reverent and memorable occasion. We pray that, filled with the Holy Spirit, these young people will grow in maturity as young adult Catholics and accept, welcome and nurture His gifts in their lives. Please keep them all, along with our First Holy Communion children, in your prayers.

Ascension Day

This coming Thursday, 30th May, is the Feast of the Ascension, a Holy Day of Obligation, and Mass will be celebrated at 9am and 7:30pm. This feast is a special day for the members of our Life Ascending Group who invite parishioners to join them after the morning Mass for refreshments in the Lower Parish Rooms.

Priest Training Fund

Two Sundays ago was Good Shepherd Sunday, the day we pray for priests and for vocations to the priesthood. The annual collection for the Priest Training Fund will take place next weekend. This fund pays for the priestly formation of men for the Catholic priesthood. There are currently 45 men studying at Allen Hall seminary, 27 of whom are for our own Diocese, and last year eight men were ordained to the priesthood to serve as our future priests. This fund also supports the ongoing enrichment and formation of our ordained priests. Your generous donation helps ensure we can support these men who are called to be like Christ the Good Shepherd. Donation leaflets/envelopes and prayer cards are available at the back of the church. Please take one home, read the information, bring it back next weekend with your donation and, if you can, complete the Gift Aid section. Please continue to pray for vocations and for our priests. You can donate online anytime at www.rcdow.org.uk/donations
