Ash Wednesday

Lent commences this coming Wednesday, 6th March. Ash Wednesday is designated by the Church as a day of fasting and abstinence. Mass with the distribution of Ashes will be celebrated at 9:30am and 7:30pm. St Gildas School will be joining us for the morning Mass. Traditionally a time for prayer, reflection, self-denial, good works and alms giving, may Lent be a time of blessing for all our parishioners.

Lent 2019 Faith-sharing Groups

This Lent the theme for groups across the diocese will be “Rejoice and be Glad” inviting those who take part through listening, discussion and prayer, to re-discover a profound and personal sense of being loved and of being called to love, as joyful missionary disciples of Jesus Christ. If you already belong to a group, why not use the coming weeks to encourage someone you know to come and share the enriching experience with you. If you would like to join a group, speak to Fr Sean or email the parish office Copies of the booklet are available on the newspaper stand priced £3.

Studying the Scripture

One good Lenten practice is Bible reading, and for those who wish to do so, a reminder that there are notes by our own scripture scholar Joan Griffith (and some good illustrations for meditation) here on the website for the Sunday readings each week.
