Justice and Peace Rep
What is Justice and Peace? It’s about wanting to make a difference, witnessing to gospel values in society, not only by helping those close at hand, or sending gifts overseas, but asking why problems are arising, and whether we can speak up for change. We are currently working on such things as climate protection, Fairtrade, the refugee situation, and peace in the Middle East. Justice and Peace reps can publicise our work, maintain a parish notice board, or raise awareness in the parish. Can you be your parish Justice and Peace representative? Contact the office at email@example.com

First Holy Communion & Confirmation 2019
For meeting times please see the Diary section of the Newsletter or the ‘First Holy Communion & Confirmation 2019‘ section of this post below. Parents and candidates should always check these, as they are where regular information about the program is published each week.
First Holy Communion Celebration Mass We welcome our First Holy Communion children and their families to the Celebration Mass this Sunday, 3rd February at 11:15am.
First Holy Communion – Prayer Sponsors: We would like to thank those parishioners who have volunteered to be a personal Prayer Sponsor, praying each day and when they attend Mass, for one of our 44 children as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation in March and Holy Communion in May 2019. Please collect a letter addressed to you from the newsletter stand or, if you provided an email address, check for an email, which informs you of the name of one candidate to pray for. Please speak with the FHC team or email any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Soup Run – urgent need – Our Soup Run project has an immediate need for sandwich makers as some of our fantastic volunteers have recently ‘retired’ due to personal circumstances. 2 hours, once a month on a Saturday from 3:45pm. Friendly teams, great way to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Contact Kit Greveson on 07507 138582 or email email@example.com Thank you.
Finance Committee Report – Last week’s meeting was naturally focused around the current building works. We are drawing down parish funds before calling on the diocesan loan facility to reduce interest payments. At present we have approx. £183,000 available in the bank. Though Fr Sean has queried some additional cost items that have been presented, it is likely that we will have to cut or defer some of the additional work we would like to do. This will depend to an extent on the success of fundraising and Fr Sean has begun to ask parishioners one-to-one to consider making one-off or regular financial pledges. None the less, we are likely to face difficult decisions in the years ahead.
