CAFOD Family Fast Day: Friday 5 October

CAFOD works with poor communities overseas on our behalf, helping them to tackle poverty and injustice. Last Friday was Family Fast Day, please return your CAFOD envelope along with your donation in this weekend’s CAFOD collection. Please also consider giving a regular monthly donation if you can and Gift Aid any donation if you are a tax payer. You can donate online here.

Praying the with the Rosary

A small Faith-sharing group to discover more about the gift of the rosary: where it comes from, the mysteries of the Rosary, how to contemplate and pray with the rosary. Every Sunday through the month of October at 3pm in the church. For more details contact Claire Kennedy 07478330557/

Building Works

Please note there will be no access to the parish office via the presbytery front door over the next week or so as works will begin repairing the steps leading up to the presbytery. Fr Sean’s weekly surgery will take place in the Sacristy on Tuesday with access from the church.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Month of the Holy Souls

In November we remember relatives and friends who have died. Holy Souls lists and envelopes will be available next weekend 13th/14th October.

Calling all young people aged 18-30

There will be an evening of prayer and reflection with Cardinal Vincent on Tuesday, 30th October 2018 from 7pm at Archbishop’s House. The Cardinal will share his reflections from the Synod on Youth and there will be an opportunity for further dialogue. The event is free to attend but registration is required by email to

Support Action for Kids

Holy Trinity Quiz Night, for Action for Kids, on Friday, 12th October 7:30pm. Tickets £10, includes food. Bring your own drink.

Monthly Draw

It has been decided to postpone the monthly draw for the foreseeable future as the current works to the church exterior has made selling the tickets impractical. Thanks to all our regular supporters and those who contribute to this fundraiser. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Priest Surgery – See Fr Sean without an appointment on Tuesday 9th October from 5pm-7pm at the Sacristy. This is also when school transfer forms will be signed

Catechists – There will be a catechists Meeting on Monday, 15th October, 7:30pm in the lower parish rooms, for catechists and those who are interested in becoming a catechist for our First Holy Communion or Confirmation programmes beginning this Autumn – volunteers always welcome!

Mass of Commemoration – Friday 2nd November, 7:30pm. This Mass is celebrated for those members of the parish who died in the past year and an invitation has been sent to their families. If you have lost a member of your family (not necessarily resident in the parish) and would like them remembered at the Mass, please hand a note in to the parish office before 1st November, giving their name and, if you have one, a photo we can display (no bigger than A5 please). All names will be read out and a candle lit in their memory.

The Bishops of England and Wales – have issued a statement, reflecting on their experiences in Rome last week during their visit ‘Ad limina Apostolorum’. In particular, they write movingly of the time they spent with the Holy Father, and of some of the themes that they explored with him. A copy of this statement is available at the back of the church on the newsletter stand.

Holy Families – The Joy of Love – An Exploration of Amoris Laetitia – An Autumn Faith–Sharing Resource – Sunday 15th October – 19th November. This six-week resource has been produced with the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in mind, and is an important contribution to our ongoing reception of the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia. Booklets will be available from group leaders from week beginning 15th October and will also be available from the newspaper stand priced £3. Anyone wishing to join a group should contact the parish office.

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – is open to adults interested in learning about the Catholic faith with a view perhaps to becoming Catholic as well as to baptised Catholics who may not have been fully received into the Church and wish to make First Holy Communion or to be Confirmed. Please speak to Fr Sean to find out more. Details of an introductory meeting and how to apply will be announced shortly.

Why should we care? – Tuesday evenings – 9th & 16th October, 8:15pm at Holy Trinity, Granville Road. Drawing on the teaching in Pope Francis’ important encyclical on the environment Laudato Si’ as we explore how our faith helps us care for what he has called ‘our common home’.

Eucharistic Ministers and Readers Retreat Day – Saturday, 27th October 2018, 10am-4pm. at St John Vianney Church Hall, 386 West Green Road, London N15 3QL. Led by the Sisters of Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity. Please bring a packed lunch or something to share. Teas/Coffees/Biscuits provided. Readers/ Eucharistic Ministers are asked to attend as this will probably be the only day of reflection we may have this year. Please hand in your name to the parish secretary.
