Sunday is Education Sunday. For well over a hundred years there has been an annual recognition of Education Sunday in England and Wales. It is a national day of prayer and celebration for everyone in the world of education. The theme for 2018 is ‘Faith and Works’. The Pope’s Prayer Intention
In September, we join the Holy Father in prayer for his Universal Intention, that young people in Africa may have access to education and work in their own countries.
Home Mission Sunday – 16th September
Home Mission Sunday provides us with the opportunity to focus on spreading the Gospel in our local areas The Home Mission Office helps the local Church make the Joy of the Gospel a reality across England and Wales by providing training and support to diocesan evangelisation personnel, putting on events that inspire people to share their faith and encouraging the faithful to pray for evangelisation.
The Parish Office will re-open on Wednesday 12th September at 9am.
Kay Diver RIP
We learnt this week of the sad death of Ms Kay Diver, retired Head Teacher of St Peter in Chains Infant school. She retired and moved back to Ireland in the early 1990s but would be remembered fondly by many pupils and members of the Parish.
Building Works – access to the Parish Rooms
There will be no access to the Parish Rooms via the basement area steps until further notice. Access will be through the church and the sacristy when the church is open and through the Presbytery if the church closed. Thank you for your cooperation.

Life Ascending Group – resumes on Tuesday, 11th September at 10am in the lower parish rooms – entry will be through the church.
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – is open to adults interested in learning about the Catholic faith with a view perhaps to becoming Catholic as well as to baptised Catholics who may not have been fully received into the Church and wish to make First Holy Communion or to be Confirmed. Please speak to Fr Sean to find out more. Details of an introductory meeting and how to apply will be announced shortly.
