Apostleship of the Sea
Today is Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Without them we would not have most of the items we buy in the shops. Today’s second collection is for Apostleship of the Sea (AoS), the Church’s official maritime welfare agency. It supports seafarers both practically and spiritually. This collection is vital to enable it to continue its work, so please give generously and remember seafarers in your prayers. Donation envelopes and Prayer cards are available on the newsletter stand. Thank you. To donate online please visit www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
The recent massive publicity around the introduction of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) has reminded us of the importance and requirement for organisations to maintain the personal data they hold about people. For this reason, we are asking all parishioners to complete a census form so that we can bring our parish database up to date. Forms and pens are available on the ends of benches. Please complete a form for your household while you are in church today and hand it in as you leave. The form contains an important statement on data privacy and how we handle your information so please take time to read it. Thank you.
Recent news reports have highlighted the increase in violence affecting young people across London. Are you wondering how you can respond? Is there a way that together we can make a difference? Courtyard, part of the Catholic charity Million Minutes, presents ‘Hope Together’. These gatherings offer an opportunity to explore the issues and discuss our potential response in supporting our local young people. There are two opportunities to attend: Monday 16th July 7-9pm, St Mellitus, Finsbury Park, N4 3AG or Saturday 28th July 2-4pm, our Lady of Mount Carmel & St George, Enfield, EN2 6DS. For more information and to register online search ‘million minutes eventbrite’

Fr William Kiowi – final week of appeal – Many will remember Fr William who helped in Fr David’s time. I had an email from Fr William – now a parish priest in Mozambique serving in a poor rural area. He is responsible with a local nun in a feeding programme for the local children. They are presently £500 short for the programme for the next few months and he asked me if I could find some support from our parish. Presently we have a lot of fundraising requests but if anyone could donate £5 cash I will arrange a bank transfer. If you can support may I ask you to place your offering in an envelope with my name and hand into the parish office over the next two weeks. Be assured the funds go directly to the Consolate priests bank account so no deductions for administration and all is legitimate. Many thanks Lesley Pippet

For applications contact Ruben (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Father Sean in the next two weeks. Support will be given and training provided.
