Hope Together

Recent news reports have highlighted the increase in violence affecting young people across London. Are you wondering how you can respond? Is there a way that together we can make a difference? Courtyard, part of the Catholic charity Million Minutes, presents ‘Hope Together’. These gatherings offer an opportunity to explore the issues and discuss our potential response in supporting our local young people. There are two opportunities to attend: Monday 16th July 7-9pm, St Mellitus, Finsbury Park, N4 3AG or Saturday 28th July 2-4pm, our Lady of Mount Carmel & St George, Enfield, EN2 6DS. For more information and to register online search ‘million minutes eventbrite’

Apostleship of the Sea

Next week is Sea Sunday, When the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. There will be a second collection for Apostleship of the Sea, the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church. It provides practical and spiritual support to seafarers visiting our ports. As it is dependent on voluntary donations, please give generously. For more information about its work, visit www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk

SEEDs

Our Group that brings together people with learning difficulties, their families and friends meets next Saturday, 7th July from 2-4pm at St Peter in Chains School Hall, Elm Grove. All welcome.

Soup Run

Our Soup Run is running low on tuna fish and sweetcorn. If you are able to buy a tin (or a stack of 4), it will be greatly appreciated. Please leave in box at back of church. NB: we do not need any tea at the moment but other items (coffee, sugar, cheese, tinned corned beef/chopped ham) are always well received. Thank you.

Fr William Kiowi

You will remember Fr William who helped in Fr David’s time. I had an email from Fr William – now a parish priest in Mozambique serving in a poor rural area. He is responsible with a local nun in a feeding programme for the local children. They are presently £500 short for the programme for the next few months and he asked me if I could find some support from our parish. Presently we have a lot of fundraising requests but if anyone could donate £5 cash I will arrange a bank transfer. If you can support may I ask you to place your offering in an envelope with my name and hand into the parish office over the next two weeks. Be assured the funds go directly to the Consolate priests bank account so no deductions for administration and all is legitimate. Many thanks Lesley Pippet
