First Reconciliation & Communion 2018

Classes continue this weekend. There will be a very important Parent’s Meeting on Tuesday, 6th March, at 7:30pm in the Church to discuss the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please continue to pray for our children who will be meeting Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time next weekend. There will be a Celebration Mass next Sunday, 11th March at 11:15am and all children and their families are asked to attend.

Confirmation Group Charity Project

Our candidates will be serving teas/coffees/cakes this Sunday, 4th March after the morning Masses, to raise funds for their chosen charity Toilet Twinning.

CAFOD – Lent Family Fast Day – Thank you

So far, you have given over £1,000 (including £196 from the Frugal Supper) to help CAFOD stand alongside poor communities and work with them to end poverty and injustice across the world. With matched giving from the government CAFOD will receive over £2,000. Donations can still be handed in to the Parish Office or you can donate online.

Keeping Lent Holy

Visit our page of suggestions for ways to prepare for Easter through prayer, reflection and personal almsgiving.

This week’s Ecumenical Stations of the Cross will be at 7:30pm on Friday 9th March at Holy Trinity Church, Granville Road.

Mass for Bereaved Parents

The Annual Mass for Bereaved Parents will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday, 10th March at 2:30pm. This is a time to remember, to pray, to give thanks, and to entrust deceased children to the Lord. All are welcome.

A Call to Young Adults

Your Bishops Want to Hear From You. Cardinal Vincent and the auxiliary bishops of the diocese are inviting Catholic young adults, aged 18 to 30, to meet with them to discuss the theme of the next Synod of Bishops – ‘Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment’. In particular, they would like to hear about how you see your place in the world, how faith impacts your life and how the Church can best accompany you as you work out God’s plan for your life. The Cardinal is hosting two meetings at Archbishop’s House in Victoria and the auxiliary bishops are hosting meetings across the diocese. You are invited to attend one of these meetings. They will involve discussion of the synod theme, an opportunity to question your bishops, and light refreshments. Please do consider making your voice heard and playing your part in the shaping the Church’s approach to young people in the future. If you would like to attend, please register at where you can find details of all events.

Planned Giving and Gift Aid

Every week many £5, £10 and £20 notes are put loose into the collection. If the giver pays tax, signing a Gift Aid Declaration and putting those notes into Planned Giving envelopes would make a significant difference to parish income – an extra 25p for every £1 given at no cost to the donor. You are not committing yourself to giving every week and neither we nor HMRC check up on you! To join the envelope scheme please leave your details on the form next to the envelopes at the front of church where Standing Order and Gift Aid forms are also available. You can also email to sign up, request forms or ask any questions.

If you already use envelopes, the new boxes that come into use in April are now available. If you belong to the Gift Aid scheme but no longer pay tax, please let the office know so we stop claiming for you. Thank you.

Parish Draw

Parish Raffle Tickets will be on sale this weekend 3rd/4th March after all Masses.

Lourdes Pilgrimage volunteer appeal – The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes is once again looking to recruit volunteers to help on this summer’s pilgrimage. If you are over 18, your help would be very much appreciated as a St Frai Helper. Some of our sick pilgrims stay in a hospital-like building called the Accueil St Frai in the centre of Lourdes. It is well equipped and they are looked after by a team of doctors, nurses and volunteer St Frai Helpers whose role is to provide the sort of care for which you don’t need a medical qualification. This includes helping the pilgrims get up and ready in the morning; taking them to pilgrimage events; shopping and socialising with them and other helpers; and putting them to bed at night. The timetable is arranged so there is time to rest, make your own pilgrimage, spend time with your groups and make new friends. If you’re interested in helping, please email 18 is the starting age, but there really is no upper age limit, as long as the volunteer is fit and able and keen to help. The pilgrimage is from Saturday 21st – Friday 27th July.
