Why statues are veiled

Why do we veil statues for the last 2 weeks of Lent? When we walk into church and see the covered statues, we immediately know that something is different. The last two weeks of Lent are meant to be a time of immediate preparation for the Holy Week & Easter services and these veils are a visual reminder to get ready!
