This weekend we begin the Season of Advent, our preparation for Christmas. It is also the beginning of a new church year when on Sundays we will be listening principally to the gospel of St Mark; this is referred to liturgically as ‘Year B’. During Advent there will be a number of Prayer Vigils and other events – see notice below – which are a wonderful way to begin the season of Advent. Also, have a look at the website for Joan Griffiths’ introduction to St Mark’s Gospel. Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament is an ideal way to prepare for Christmas. We have our Holy Hour on Friday evenings, 7:30-8:30pm and Exposition from 9:30-10am on Saturday mornings.
South Tottenham Refugee Alliance
The group meets again this Thursday, 7th December, 7-8:30pm, at St John Vianney, West Green Road. We are getting down to allocating volunteers for particular parts of this project to house a Syrian or Iraqi refugee family. New volunteers are more than welcome. If you want details of what has happened so far, please contact Fr David Walter, 0208 800 8374 or email@example.com.

On this special day we give thanks for the life of Gabriel Deshayes and for the ardent work he began. We ask God’s blessing on the many religious Congregations that keep Fr. Gabriel’s work and mission alive throughout the world today.

Supporting Catholic Education – Do you support Catholic schools and the right of Catholics to send their children to them? Then we need you to make your voice heard. The Government is making a critical decision on whether to overturn the admissions cap which prevents Catholic schools from allowing all Catholic pupils to attend. They have acknowledged that this policy discriminates against Catholics and promised to abandon it; now we need you to tell them not to u-turn on their promise to Catholics. Visit http://catholicnews.org.uk/ or search for ‘Catholic Education’ in your search engine to write to the Government and urge them to drop their policy which bans new Catholic schools.
