Sick & Retired Priests’ Fund

Next weekend we will take up a second collection to support the sick & retired priests of our Diocese. The Fund has helped hundreds of priests receive the care and support they need. Nearly half the priests currently working in the Diocese are due to retire from active ministry over the next 20 years and we need your help to safeguard their future. Donation envelopes are attached to this weekend’s newsletter and leaflets are available in the back of the church for you to take home, read about this important work, and bring back next weekend with a donation if you can. You can also donate online. Please Gift Aid your donation if possible and continue to pray for the wellbeing of all our clergy – active, retired and ill.

Other notices

Priest Surgery and signing of school forms – See Fr Sean without an appointment, Tuesday 7th November, 5pm-7pm at the Presbytery.

Finance Committee Report – Our accounts show a drop in our loose cash, envelope and standing order income this year though this was balanced by a record Gift Aid payment. We are disappointed with the lack of progress on our parish projects over the summer and Fr Sean is trying to get things moving again as well as inviting St Gildas’ School children to come up with art and images we could incorporate in what we hope to do in the porch and the church. A meeting with a member of the Liturgy Commission about our ideas for the font, lectern and sanctuary flooring was encouraging. Bishop John Sherrington will be visiting the parish in January 2018. We are conscious that additional demands being placed on all parishes stretch our resources of both time and money and are drawing them away from the spiritual and pastoral work of the Parish. Steve Bethell</em

Could you be a Catechist? – Please speak to Fr. Sean if you are interested in becoming a catechist for our Parish First Holy Communion or Confirmation programmes beginning this Autumn – volunteers always welcome!

Holy Souls lists and envelopes – are available at the back of the church. Please hand your list with your donation in the envelope provided to the priest or parish office. Lists will be displayed before the altar.

Talk on Padre Pio – There will be a talk on Saint Pio from Pietrelcina, given by Father Domenico Vitulli at Saint Peter’s Church, 136 Clerkenwell Rd, London EC1R 5DL on Thursday, 9th November. Mass at 6:15pm will be followed at 7pm by the talk and Q&A session. All welcome.
