A copy of a statement issued by the Bishops of England, Scotland and Wales to mark the anniversary is available on the Newsletter stand.

Finance Committee Report

Our accounts show a drop in our loose cash, envelope and standing order income this year though this was balanced by a record Gift Aid payment. We are disappointed with the lack of progress on our parish projects over the summer and Fr Sean is trying to get things moving again as well as inviting St Gildas’ School children to come up with art and images we could incorporate in what we hope to do in the porch and the church. A meeting with a member of the Liturgy Commission about our ideas for the font, lectern and sanctuary flooring was encouraging. Bishop John Sherrington will be visiting the parish in January 2018. From our discussions we are conscious that additional demands being placed on all parishes originating from the likes of the Charity Commissioners and Insurers as well as legal requirements from things such as Health and Safety and Data Protection, are combining to stretch our resources of both time and money and are drawing them away from the spiritual and pastoral work of the Parish.
