Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions

Next weekend, September 9th/10th September, Sr Rose Mary Harbinson will be speaking at each Mass to share with us the missionary work of the Missionary Sisters of England and Wales. It is an opportunity for the parish to hear how their contributions have been made and put towards on-going projects around the world. There will be a retiring collection after all Masses. Please see posters outside the church.

Raffle Tickets

Will be on sale this weekend 2nd/3rd September after all Masses. The winning numbers for August were 200, 186 & 174 – Pale Green (AB625949).

Church Cleaning

We urgently need cleaners who can help clean the church on Mondays after the 9am Mass. If you are able to spare an hour or so please sign the list at the back of the church on the newsletter stand. Many thanks


The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is open to adults interested in learning about the Catholic faith with a view perhaps to becoming Catholic as well as to baptised Catholics who may not have been fully received into the Church and wish to make First Holy Communion or to be Confirmed. Please speak to Fr Sean to find out more. Details of an introductory meeting and how to apply will be announced shortly.

CAFOD – Romero, El Salvador & Harvest Fast Day

“We plant the seeds that one day will grow” You are invited to join CAFOD on either Saturday, 9th September in Lambeth or Saturday, 16th September at Oakwood for an inspiring meeting. Both meetings will give first hand our work in El Salvador from Clare Dixon from our Latin America team. Clare has been playing a major part in CAFOD’s work to keep up work begun in Blessed Oscar Romero’s time to ensure that the voice of the poor and persecuted is not silenced in El Salvador. A huge thank you to all our Gift Aiders

We have received the first and main part of our Gift Aid payment for 2016/2017. The total we will receive for the last tax year will amount to over £20,000 and make a considerable contribution to parish income. If you are a tax payer but do not already Gift Aid, all you need to do is complete a simple form and make your regular donations using envelopes or by standing order to enable the parish to reclaim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate. Forms are available on the Newsletter stand. If need a statement of your Gift Aid donations for 2016/2017 please email or contact the Parish Office.

For Catholics working in Healthcare and those seeking to be Chaplains – Starting in October, St Mary’s University Twickenham is pleased to offer a new foundation degree in Healthcare Ethics, Theology and Care. This is a part time two year programme for those seeking to be hospital chaplains and for people working in healthcare settings, from care homes, to hospices and hospitals. ECHO Retreat for Young Adults – organised by Westminster Youth Ministry will be held at SPEC in Pinner from 20th -27th October. You are invited to come and spend a week exploring the revolutionary worldview that St Pope John Paul II has left for us in a beautiful series of teachings, commonly known as Theology of the Body, which reveals the truth of who we are and what we were created for. Parish Pilgrimage to Poland – A pilgrimage is being planned for 31st May – 6th June 2018. There are posters at the back of the church and in the Porch with all the necessary information. We will be based in Krakow with trips organised each day to different places of interest. The cost of the trip is £799.00 for a twin bedded room. If you require a single room, there is a supplement of £168 for the six nights (limited availability). A deposit of £200 plus £33 insurance (if needed) is required, the remaining balance is due about ten weeks before departure. Cheques made payable to St Peter-in-Chains Church.

Young Catholic Adult Weekend – @ Douai Abbey 20th -22nd October 2017 – Are you 18-40, do you want to deepen your knowledge of the Catholic faith, learn its devotions and meet like-minded people? Young Catholic Adults are organizing a weekend at Douai Abbey in Berkshire with Lawrence Lew O.P., and Canon Poucin ICKSP. Praying the Rosary – is a long-established devotion to Mary, Mother of Jesus and Mother of the Church. Here at St. Peter’s a group pray the Rosary after the 9.00am morning Mass on Tuesday and Friday. If you have a particular devotion to Our Lady, you might wish to join them.
