Day for Life

Day for Life, celebrated next Sunday 18th June, is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. The proceeds of the retiring collection taken at all Masses next weekend will be used to support the work of the Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other life-related activities supported by the Church.

Eucharistic Ministers and Readers

The re-commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers and re-dedication of Readers will take place at all Masses next weekend, 17th/18th June, the Feast of The Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Parish Office.

Crouch End Festival

The Crouch End Festival Thanksgiving Mass is on Sunday, 18th June at the 11:15am Family Mass, with our Celebration Choir and a beautiful Offertory dance prepared by members of Seeds Saturday club. Bishops ask for feedback from young people

The bishops of England and Wales have released an online survey ahead of next year’s synod on youth. The “Youth Poll on Life, Faith and Vocational Discernment” invites answers from 13-29-year-olds of all religions and none. It is anonymous, though participants must enter their email address. The responses “will be used in a report that will be sent to the Vatican” ahead of the synod, which is scheduled for October 2018. The survey is available at Closing date for replies – 30th June.

New Readers

Anyone interested in becoming a reader is invited to an introductory session on Wednesday, 14th June at 7:30pm in the church.

Lost Property

There will be a box with lost property items at the back of the church this weekend. If you have lost items in church please check the box. Any items not claimed by Monday 12th June will be taken to the local charity shop. Thank you.

Samuel Selvarajah RIP

Please remember in your prayers the late Samuel Selvarajah who passed away last week. Details of his funeral will be published in next week’s newsletter.

Priest General Surgery – The next surgery for anyone who wishes to see Fr. Sean without an appointment will be on Tuesday, 13th June from 5-6:30pm at the Presbytery.

Can you help?
Altar Servers needed – Altar serving is open to all who have received their First Holy Communion and regularly attend Mass. We would encourage both young people and adults to consider this ministry. Application forms are available from the sacristy. Please return the completed form to Fr Sean or the parish office. Training session dates to be confirmed – closing date 18th June.

Help us make a noise! – The 11:15am Family Mass choir is running low on tambourines, shakers etc. We are asking parishioners if they go on holiday this year to bring back percussion instruments from around the world. Thank you!

Apologetics Evening – The Guild of our Lady and St Joseph will be holding an Evening of Apologetics next Tuesday, 13th June, at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall of Our Lady of Victories in Kensington. Apologetics is a crucial part of evangelisation. We will have an expert panel of dynamic and knowledgeable theologians and priests on hand to answer any questions you have about the Catholic faith and how to share it with others simply and effectively. Join us to have your questions answered, and to become a more confident and knowledgeable apologist. Admission is £5 at the door, and includes a glass of wine. St Gildas’ 100 part deux – We’re re-scheduling the fundraising bike ride from St Gildas in France to Crouch End until September 2017. Please contact us on if you’d like to take part as we’re just finalising the dates for September. Thanks indeed, Mat and Barry!

Pilgrimage to Poland – 31st May – 6th June 2018 – There are posters at the back of the church and in the Porch with all the necessary information. We will be based in Krakow with trips organised each day to different places of interest. The cost of the trip is £799.00 for a twin bedded room. If you require a single room, there is a supplement of £168 for the six nights (limited availability). If you are interested in joining us, please contact Sheila Doyle on telephone No. 020 8340 4511 to reserve a place. A deposit of £200 plus £33 insurance (if needed) is required, the remaining balance is due about ten weeks before departure. Cheques made payable to St Peter-in-Chains Church. We have reserved 30 places for the pilgrimage. Bookings need to be made by the end of July to guarantee that price.

Easter Flowers – the pansies endowed in memory of loved ones have now been removed from the church and are in the porch. If you would like to plant your pansy in your garden/window box for next year, please take it/them this weekend.

St John Vianney Prayer Mission – 10th -18th June. A week of Prayer and Reflection on our road to Emmaus. Details are available on notice board outside the church.

ECHO Retreat for Young Adults – organised by Westminster Youth Ministry will be held at SPEC in Pinner from 20th-27th October. You are invited to come and spend a week exploring the revolutionary worldview St Pope John Paul II has left for us in a beautiful series of teachings, commonly known as Theology of the Body, which reveals the truth of who we are and what we were created for.
